Here we go! Just 16 weeks until the 2012 Boston Marathon. It's time to start training!!! Yes, that statement scares me a little bit to be honest. I know what's ahead. But I love it. And yes, I'm a little crazy. But I think all runners have to be to put in the miles race after race, year after year.

Niki and I are amazed and so thankful for your support to get us to Boston. 2012 is a year to celebrate, to glorify God and be thankful. That's our focus. One of my new favorite scriptures is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." Rejoice. Pray. Give thanks. Got it. Can do!

We want you to take this journey with us. Truthfully, it makes it more fun for us. So please indulge us. We want to share our experiences. Like this fall when Niki planned our 8 mile route and we ended up in a wooded area, on a dirt road with posted signs that read "RESTRICTED! TAMU PERSONNEL ONLY." Yeah, that was great. I knew there was a reason for the VERY TALL fences with the multiple barb wire loops across the top. After running through a pasture and scaling a 6 foot high board fence we got out of there but I was afraid we might have caught some rare, foreign animal disease. Fortunately, that didn't happen. And I'll plan the routes from now on. :)

Run #1 - The picture above is from last Saturday, December 31st... our first training run for Boston! We ran a 10 miler. Neither of us has done much since the B/CS Half Marathon on December 11 PLUS we did much good eatin' over the holidays. But we have to start somewhere, so we started. It was warm and foggy. But 1-1/2 hours later we were done. First workout in the bag. Only 14 more long runs to go to marathon day on Monday, April 16th! We hope you'll play along!!!
